Introduction

The Mental Science of Success – Online Edition

You know, there are some rare people who seem to be naturally good at everything they attempt?  Almost like they are blessed with the Midas touch and everything they do turns to gold.  Or like they have been blessed with a magically charmed life.  Sometimes we might feel that these people were given the God gene which gives them a genetic edge above everyone else…  These are the people who make the big bucks and who achieve the impossible!

Then there are those who are on the other end of the spectrum which seem to entirely fail at everything they do.  People that cause more problems than they solve and waste more time trying to figure things out than it takes to actually do the job…  These are the people that find it difficult to maintain life, let alone excel in it.  They earn near minimum wage, (if they can even keep a job), or they live off the welfare of others.  They have no real marketable skills and maintain poor relationships.

In opposition to the God gene, they appear to have gotten the loser gene.  They often complain about their lives, but then who wouldn’t if everything they did failed.  They tend to blame everyone except themselves and because they are too busy pointing at everyone else, they neglect to take the personal responsibility for their lives required to change the outcome.  So they go on blaming anything they can for their failures all the while neglecting the real problem, themselves.

Oddly enough there are those who are on both ends of this spectrum at the same time where they seem intelligent enough and are very capable but can’t seem to make any significant progress.   Many of them hit walls or limits that keep them from really achieving their dreams.  Often, those walls allow them to make partial successes like graduating from high school or college but prevent them for getting more than a mediocre job with a mediocre salary.  For some, they have all the talent and intelligence in the world and yet go from one failure to another.  Those “failures” may look like mediocre success, but ultimately, they are not living the life they want.  Something’s holding them back.  Perhaps it’s self-defeating behaviors or self-sabotage.  These people should be at the forefront doing very well financially and socially and in every other thing, but they seem to be blocked both by themselves and by everything else.  They could achieve greatness, but then… they just don’t…  Watching them is like watching a firecracker as the wick burns down, fully anticipating something amazing!  And right at the climax it, pops up a few feet as if trying really hard to do something cool and then falls back to the ground.  They might even kick out a few sparks on the ground…  You wait a few moments longer hoping that they will pick themselves up again and do something amazing and finally you accept that it was all a bunch of hype and this dud “ain’t go’n nowhere.”

Like the great majority, I was in this third group.  I ranked high in intelligence, favorable in looks, and came out of the box with excellent communication skills.  All that coupled with enough knowledge and certifications that I should have been making $60k/year or better.  I had everything going for me except me.  I was 22, married to an amazing woman, had an incredibly beautiful and intelligent baby girl and was receiving $200/month in financial aid from my mother-in-law.

As a highly certified college dropout, I was making $12.75 an hour which was about $1.50 more than the successful uncertified non-college graduates I worked with and $0.75 more than my college graduated peers whom I worked with.  Looking back, I realize that many of those who were college graduates working for $12/hour were limiting themselves as well.  They too were stuck in a “Failure to launch”/”Failure to Thrive” condition.

Today, I live an unlimited life of success. This book details my transformation from failure to success, how and why my transformation happened and how to experience the same for yourself.

This book is a guide and an encouragement to our fellow failures.  We hope to impart to you the miracle of success which was gifted to us.

If you are not achieving your potential, if you know that the firecracker in you still hasn’t launched, then we wrote this book for you.  If you haven’t gotten the Midas touch and are struggling to maintain life or struggling to excel in it, then we wrote this book for you.

We wrote this book for all those who, whether they know it or not, are not achieving their potential.  Those who are not living the life they dream for themselves and for their families.   We dedicate this book to everyone who is hitting walls that prevent them from achieving greater success than they currently experience.

And with that introduction, here is my story…
